Breakthrough: Defense System is Stage 6.2 in R-Type Final 2. This stage pays homage to R-Type Final's Dimension 26, Picking the green object from Junction in Giant Crystal Colonies will lead to this route. The player enters the subspace with no terrain in the stage, and encounters the Bydo Defense System. At the end of the stage the player confronts the separable battleship SIN-G.

- When starting a playthrough in the Original Course (the 1st Mission not being Stage 1.0 or Stage X3.0), in the demo the player's fighter takes off and enters the subspace with a similar background to this stage.
- The Gains Link 999 robots on both sides may hit each other with their cannons.
