Research into Bydo biology produced this close-combat, plant-based Wave Cannon. Less than a level one charge results in a short-range vine whip not unlike a weak Pile Bunker.

Ivy Rod

A full level one charge fires two intertwined vines that lance out in front of the ship, then quickly flit back.

2 Loop Max. The weapon is composed of plant-like Bydo tissue. Ivy-like tendrils of energy extend out-wards, inflicting precise damage on the enemy.

This weapon is part of the B-1B Mad Forest's testing.

Thorn Ivy

Improvements upon the Ivy Rod include adding thorns to the vines through all charge levels, the range is increased, and a third charge level increased overall power and size of the vine strike.

R-Type Final / R-Type Final 2

3 Loop Max. Thorn-like energy prongs have been added to the Ivy Rod’s attack. The effect area is larger and it can be used in a wider range of situations.

Further testing with the B-1B2 Mad Forest II helped to produce this weapon.

Princess Ivy

The range of the previous Thorn Ivy has been increased yet again. Explosive flowers along the vines are incorporated into the attack, increasing the damage dealt.

R-Type Final / R-Type Final 2

4 Loop Max. In addition to the thorns of the Thorn Ivy, “flowers” also bloom. These flowers are explosive and will damage surrounding enemies.

The B-1B3 Mad Forest III was the only ship equipped with this weapon.
