The classic Bit Device, the Round Bit makes an appearance in every R-Type mission. It consists of a Force-like interior with a metal shell that slowly revolves around it.

Description

Developed to create "Force" energy using human means. Only partially completed, the unit was equipped with a function to counter the enemy's energy, and sent out on the R-9.

Parts

• Artificial Core: Energy life was created within the sphere. When used with the horizontal (red) laser, it attacks with extra energy.
• Control Shell: An outer shell which covers half of the Artificial Force and revolves around the core.

Use

This Bit only provides physical defense against enemy contact; it annihilates most enemies and ships, damaging larger ones. This bit has no offensive capability.

R-Type III: The Third Lightning

It is called the Struggle Bit in this mission, and has the ability to block most enemy projectiles (like the Shield Bit). When the Hyper Wave Cannon is activated, the Struggle Bit will spin around the fighter.

R-Type Final / R-Type Final 2

Description

• Final: A support weapon built to enable manual Force activation. In one experiment, an attempt to actualize life energy to increase defense resulted in a trans-dimensional shift at the moment of installation.
• Final 2: A support weapon built to enable manual Force activation. Developers attempted to gather and actualize life force to act as a defense against enemy bodies, but at the moment of installation the Bit and R-9A underwent a trans-dimensional shift.

The English description is a mistranslation. The original quote is actually the same as the description in R-Types (see above).

Usage

Abbreviated as A in the armament. This Bit's primary function is to provide physical defense against enemy contact. However, the Round Bit cannot block projectiles. (Only devices like the Shield Bit can block them in Final and Final 2.)

Certain combinations of Force and Laser Crystal (usually red) give it a minor offensive attack:

Round Bit + Red Laser

• Standard Force / Mecha Machine Force: The top Round Bit fires blue bolts, and the bottom Round Bit fires red bolts. (Same as the Level 2 Red Laser)
• Standard Force DX: The top Round Bit fires purple (Final) / blue bolts (Final 2), and the bottom Round Bit fires red bolts. (Same as the Level 2 Red Laser)
• Standard Force H: The top Round Bit fires blue honeycomb bolts, and the bottom Round Bit fires honeycomb red bolts. (Same as the Level 2 Red Laser)
• Fire Force / Flame Force: Both Round Bits fire orange bolts (Final) / fireballs (Final 2).
• Defensive Force: Both Round Bits fire red bolts (Final). / The top Round Bit fires blue bolts, and the bottom Round Bit fires red bolts (Final 2).
• Defensive Force DX: The top Round Bit fires purple (Final) / pink bolts (Final 2), and the bottom Round Bit fires red bolts.
• Tentacle Force: Both Round Bits fire pink bolts (Final). / The top Round Bit fires blue bolts, and the bottom Round Bit fires red bolts (Final 2).
• Gallop Force: Both Round Bits fire pink beams.
• Gallop Force DX: Both Round Bits fire orange beams.
• Drill Force: Both Round Bits fire orange bolts (Final). / The top Round Bit fires blue bolts, and the bottom Round Bit fires red bolts (Final 2).
• Drillhorn Force: The top Round Bit fires blue bolts, and the bottom Round Bit fires red bolts.
• Needle Force / Needle Force DX: The top Round Bit fires blue bolts, and the bottom Round Bit fires red bolts. (Same as the Level 2 Red Laser)
• Chain Force: Both Round Bits fire red (Final) / orange bolts (Final 2) which follows the fighter's vertical movement.
• Anchor Force: Both Round Bits fire orange bolts which follows the fighter's vertical movement.
• Anchor Force DX: Both Round Bits fire pink bolts which follows the fighter's vertical movement.
• Mist Force: Both Round Bits fire yellow shots. This is notable for being the Mist Force's only method of direct forward attack.

Round Bit + Blue Laser

• Ivy Force: Both Round Bits fire red curving beams that move in a similar pattern to the red weapon.

Round Bit + Yellow Laser

• Cyclone Force: Both Round Bits fire green lasers that turn at 90 degrees when above or below a target. Similar to the Search Laser LRG on the Leo Force.

For R-Crafts with the Round Bit but other Forces, the Round Bit does not provide additional firepower, so other Bit Devices like the Shadow Bit may be preferred.
