The first military encounter of Bydo Mission I, where the famous R-9A Arrowhead fought its first battle, and also where it excelled. Entering through the main entrance, it will travel through a mechanical stronghold or space colony, containing many basic Bydo units that will be encountered in later missions. This is a straightforward area; though strong with defensive units, it's far easier compared with later missions. However, the true challenge is at the end of the Encounter, where Dobkeratops awaits. This is quite a change from the small defensive Bydo seen previously. Defeating Dobkeratops will lead to the next stage in the mission, the Creature Cave.

Trivia

• The setting of this stage has been identified as Saturn Base "Grid" in mission 14 of the Human Campaign in R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate. Even the Gains replace the Scant, the Blaster with the FTR01 Beam Turret and the Revo with Pata-Pata. The Dobkeratops is identified by its scientific name: Dobkeratops dispater whereas its incarnation from the original R-Type could possibly be identified as Dobkeratops mattuchius.
• In R-Type Final 2, The Encounter stage become a fungi-theme background and according to the process where the campaign goal in 2019 is already success for remaking one of the stages from the original series.
