Irem, formerly called the Irem Corporation and now called Irem Engineering Software, is a Japanese video game console developer and publisher, and formerly a developer and manufacturer of arcade games as well. The company was founded in Hakusan, Ishikawa, and its current headquarters are in Chiyoda, Tokyo.
Irem is mostly well known for the R-Type Series, but it has already abandoned video game development since the 2010s, and its former core developers formed a new company - Granzella Inc., which is now licensed to develop the R-Type Series.

- R-9DP Hakusan, R-9DP2 Asanogawa, R-9DP3 Kenrokuen are named after the places of interest of the same names in Ishikawa, Japan, where Irem's former headquarter and Granzella's current headquarter are located.
